The general aim of the
General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) programme is to prepare young
adults for direct bedside nursing care. Therefore, the
training programme of three and half years mainly focuses on
developing practical, hands on skill in the nursing process. The scope of
registered nurses after passing GNM Programme for employment is, in
hospitals, clinics, public health areas, industry, defence etc. GNM
nurses can advance their professional career by going on for a Post
Basic B.Sc. Nursing degree in future.
GNM programme is meant to
prepare general nurses who can efficiently perform as members of the health
team and capable of dealing the competencies in both the hospitals and other
such organizations.
PURPOSE
The
purpose of General Nursing Programme is to prepare a general nurse, who will
function as a member of the health team beginning with competencies, for first
level position in both hospital and community.
The
Programme is geared to the health needs of the country, community and
individual which will serve as a basis for advanced study and specialization in
nursing. It will assist nurses in their personal and professional developments,
so that they may make their maximum contribution to the society, as
individuals, citizens and nurses.
Role
of Nurse-Midwife
A
nurse-midwife is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) who provides
prenatal, postpartum and newborn care. An integral member of the health care
community, as a nurse-midwife, you’ll track fetal development, care for mother
and baby during childbirth, and can serve as a primary care provider who
supports wellness for women throughout their life span.
The
mission of this concentration is to educate students to serve the needs of
rural and underserved populations.
General

promotion and rehabilitation of persons across the age spectrum. Students will

General
nursing offers the most varied of careers with opportunities available across a
number of settings. Although general nursing may involve looking after sick
